Reed Education are proud to be working in partnership with a highly regarded, large and thriving special school in the Reading area to recruit a dedicated SEN Teacher for a permanent position starting this September.

About the School

This well-established specialist provision caters for pupils aged 3–19 with complex special educational needs. Every pupil has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and benefits from a highly personalised learning experience. 

The school supports a wide range of needs, including:

  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), alongside conditions such as ADHD
  • Sensory and physical impairments 

Pupils are taught in small classes with high levels of staff support, enabling a truly individualised approach to learning and development.

The Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver creative, engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to a diverse range of complex needs
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans aligned to EHCP outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with therapists, support staff and families to ensure holistic pupil progress
  • Foster pupils’ communication, independence and social development
  • Play a key role in maintaining the school’s high standards of care and achievement

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS or equivalent)
  • Experience working with SEN pupils, particularly those with complex learning difficulties
  • A strong understanding of strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or total communication approaches (desirable)
  • A patient, resilient and compassionate approach
  • A commitment to inclusive education and pupil-centred learning
